Biography

William Batte was born about 1698 in Bristol, Prince George County, Virginia.

William Batte's father was John Spain and his mother was ? Batte. His paternal grandfather was Thomas Spain; his maternal grandfather was William Batte. He had a brother named Thomas. He was the older of the two children. He died about 1798 in Dinwiddy County, Virgin

‌William Batte and Mary were married in a religious ceremony before 1720 in Bristol, Prince George County, Virginia.1 They had five sons and a daughter, named Joshua, Batte Peterson, Abraham, John, William Batte and Elizabeth. [1]

William Batte Spain was born circa 1700, in Virginia a son of John Spain, born circa 1665. William's Find A Grave indicates that he was born in Dinwiddie county, however Dinwiddie County was created 27 February 1752 from Prince George County and Prince George County was created in 1703. [1]
