Biography

When Charles James Spain was born in September 1867 in Polk, Iowa, his father, Michael, was 40 and his mother, Ann, was 35. He married Cecelia Rose McElwee on April 16, 1888, in Warren, Iowa. They had 12 children in 20 years. He died on June 5, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 71, and was buried in Bevington, Iowa.
