Biography

John Benjamin Knott was born on 22 July 1847 in Grahamstown; he was the son of Henry Sparks and Mary Eliza Ann (Knott) Sparks.

He was farming at Gwaan near Adelaide when he married Elizabeth Ann Hartley in the Bathurst Wesleyan Chapel on 20 April 1870.^[1]
