James Anderson Sparks was born December 6, 1912 in Cherokee County, South Carolina to father Jefferson Orr Sparks and mother Bennie Peeler.^[1]

On April 1, 1935, James A Sparks lived in Rowan County, North Carolina.^[2]

James A Sparks was enumerated as head of the household at 212 Wiley Avenue, West Ward, Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina for the April 16, United States Census, 1940. He was noted as born 1912 in South Carolina and married. He rented a home and was shown to be a president + treasurer (furniture) as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Mildred C Sparks and son James A Sparks.^[2]

James Anderson Sparks Sr. died September 23, 1980 in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. He was living at 211 W. Corriher Avenue in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. He was married and the owner of a furniture company. He was to be buried at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.^[1]
