Obituary: Eugene "Gene" Mauldin Spearman, 82, of 152 Rutledge Street, formerly of 104 Robinson Ave., died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, Mr. Spearman was a son of the late Rufus Oliver and Lola Prince Spearman. He retired from Saco Lowell Corporation with over 30 years of service. Mr. Spearman served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Craig James and his wife Cathy Spearman of Easley, and Richard Spearman of Enoree; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jacquelyn and Dennis Morgan of Honea Path, Eugenia and Wayne Hunter of Easley, and Barbara and Leonard Haynes of Easley; one brother, Rufus O. Spearman of Six Mile; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Spearman was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Herron Spearman; four brothers, Furman Spearman, Doyle Spearman, Foyle Spearman and David Spearman; two sisters, Alice Jones and Ada Hunter.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Willis, the Rev. Keith Davis and the Rev. Garland Sentell officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the funeral home.
