Bruce was born at Eddington in Victoria in 1897. He was the son of James Spedding (1855-1928) and Catherine Mary (Furness) Spedding (1860-1919) [1]
Bruce married Eunice Myrene Williams 1897-1994 in Victoria in 1923.[2]
