Biography

Asa Spencer was born Februay 1, 1780 in Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA, the sixth child of Jeremiah and Thankful (Hinckley) Spencer. Asa married Bethsheba Phelps, daugher of Judge Phelps of Sennett, NY. They resided in Sempronius, Cayuga, New York where they had 10 children. Bethsheba passed away in 1821 and Asa married second Eunice Dunbar. Asa died in 1860.

In the 1850 Federal census Asa was living in Jasper, Steuben County, NY on property adjacent to his son Milo's residence. In the 1860 Federal census Asa was still in Jasper at age 80.
