Charles married Sarah E. Griffith,[1] daughter of John Griffith and Harriet Sanford, on 11 Feb. 1858.[2] Charles was a farmer. In 1860, they lived with Charles' parents in Sardinia, Erie, New York. [5] By 1865, they had two children and by 1880, five children in all.[6][7][8]
Sarah died in January 1884. In 1900, Charles' household in Sardinia included his grandson, Clyde Spencer, who worked as a day laborer on the farm. [9] Charles' household in Sardinia in 1910 included his son, Carl and daughter-in-law, Rosa and two grandsons. [10]
Charles died on March 20, 1913 in Springville, Concord, Erie, New York,[11] and he was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, East Concord, Erie County, New York. His memorial has biographical material and links to those of family members.[1]
