James S. Spencer was born to Richard and Eliza (Royster) Spencer on January 13th, 1864 in Henderson County, Kentucky. In the 1870 Census, he is listed as residing with his family in Cairo, Henderson County.[1] In 1880, he was living with his family in Robards, Henderson County, where he was working as a farm laborer.[2]
On March 10th, 1897, he married Blanche Wilson in Webster County, Kentucky. They had two children together.[3] In the 1900 Census, he is listed as living with his family in Robards. He was working as a farmer at this time.[4] He lost his infant daughter in 1903. In 1910 and 1920, he continued to live with his family in Robards, and was still working as a farmer.[5][6] He lost his son in 1928.
James passed away on August 1st, 1929 in Robards, and was buried at Spencer Cemetery in Henderson County.[7][8]
