  • Fact: http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch Alexander Spencer was born about 1785 in New York. His parents are not known for sure but his grandparents were Phineas and Martha Stevens Spencer. Most likely his parents were Lyman Spencer and Lydia Farnsworth (relative of future wife). He married Deborah Farnsworth June 30, 1806 in Fort Ann New York. He lived most of his life in Essex county New York where he ran a saw mill and latter became an attorney. During the War of 1812 he served as Quarter Master in the 9th Regiment New York Militia and was at the Battle of Plattsburg. He had three children, Alexander Josephus, Caroline Jane, and Harriet. He died February 8 1838 and is buried North Granville New York.
