= Biography

The family moved frequently until Larry was about 12 years old. At that point his parents decided to stay in Charlotte, Michigan until both kids were out of high school.

EDUCATION: He attended Charlotte Junior High and Graduated from Charlotte High School June 1971. Then Larry earned a bachelor degree in Industrial Administration at General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan doing his co-op assignments at a Fisher Body assembly plant and in the marketing department of Oldsmobile, both in Lansing, Michigan.

Larry earned a Master of Business Administration at Michigan State University in East Lansing. He also studied Portuguese at MSU and in an intensive Brazilian Portuguese summer program at Georgetown University.

EMPLOYMENT: He worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company, primarily in marketing. He managed market research, did market analysis, market forecasting, channel management, wrote white and position papers, business plans, and developed strategies.

After 21 years working for the phone company he intended to retire at 46, but ended up doing a lot of consulting work, mostly in employee incentives and recognition, employee engagement, and market research.

Larry served as the president of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employee group at the phone company for a few years. The primary focus was gaining equal benefits and job opportunities for GLBT employees.

INTEREST: When he was 15 years old he went to live with family in Chile for 6 weeks, and at 17 was an exchange student in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Larry traveled to several times to South America, Central American, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia, as well as single trips to Tunisia and Turkey. Most trips were independent, but as he grew older participated in more group trips.

Hi Larry,I got a notification that says MAYFLOWER BIRTHS AND DEATHS. I’m a little concern because the Mayflower

Came 1620 and the date on the list are in the 1700’s and 1800’s. So how can they be births or deaths from the mayflower? This is bothering me ,please get back to me.I have found no HAWKS on the Mayflower list of passengers or crew. I’m fairly new to this if you can explain it to me it could help me on my search for Hawks .Thanks and hope to be hearing from you. Mary Hawks McNellis.

Mary, Without knowing exactly which Wikitree entry you are referring to I can only make a generalized comment about "Mayflower Births and Deaths", but maybe it will be helpful. There is a two volume book of that title that is a compilation of birth and death records from the Bowman files, the largest manuscript resource on Mayflower genealogy in existence.

Perhaps this book was mentioned as a source for a descendent's information.

There are several of my relatives that I’ve met on this list. I can’t find any survivors with the last name of Hawks. I have traced through family history eight generations back on my fathers side. Is there a way to see

the 2 volume book your talking about? Where to find it. I also have many more family members that I haven’t entered just go5 burned out from doing it day and night. Thanks for any help . I hope you understand my point. I don’t want to enter something unless I can corroborate it.

Hi Larry

Thank you for adding your DNA Test to your profile on WikiTree. Getting Started with DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

DNA at WikiTree provides a visual way for you to find others who have tested and have the potential of having common ancestors. It normally takes 24 hours from adding a test, or adding a new ancestor, or ancestor’s descendant, for WikiTree to display your name and test results on your ancestors and their descendants’ profiles for potential cousins to compare results with.

Have fun!
