Biography

He was a farmer at Hay River.

In 1908 he was a member of the Plantagenet Road Board and resigned following the death of his only son.

He served in WWI enlisting at Guildford S/N 480 at the age of 39 years 11 months on 9/12/1914. At the time he was married and living at 142 Summers St East Perth. He was with the 10th Light Horse as C Squadron Scout.

He was wounded on 29/8/1015 by a bomb with injuries to the bowel, hands, thigh, face and trunk . He died later at the 16th Casualty Clearing Station Anzac Cove.

He most likely was taking part in the Battle of Hill 60 which went from 21/8/1915 to 29/8/1918. The 10th Light Horse was committed to fight on 28/8/1918, some trenches near the summit were captured but the Ottomans clung to the north face overlooking Suvla until the battle finished. The 10th started the battle with 180 men and after the battle could barely muster 70 efficients.

He has no known grave.
