Note
Note: Alanson was a cooper by trade and in the shop that stood a few feet from the old Spencer home in Eagle Point, he made many hundreds of flour and pork barrels for the mills of Pine Creek and Wilson's Mills on Buffalo Creek. 'Lant', as he was known, was a great friend of children and they thronged into his coopers shop after school to see him drive hoops and listen to his whistling to which he kept time with his coopers adz and driver. The area school was on the Spencer property, just north of the homestead. It was torn down in the 1960's.
