Biography

Nancy (Spencer) Armitage was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England.

Nancy was born in Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, in 1869. She was the daughter of Christopher Walker Spencer and Emma Laycock. She was enumerated in the 1871 and 1881 census residing in Manningham and Bradford.

Nancy married Henry Armitage on December 21, 1889, in Bradford at St Peter (Bradford Cathedral). According to the Parish Register Nancy was a twenty year old spinster and "Worsted Twister" residing at 106 Bingley Street, Manningham. Her father was named as Christopher Walker Spencer "Warp Dresser". Henry was a twenty three year old bachelor and "Carrier" residing at 9 Star Street, Horton. His father was named as George Armitage "Coal Dealer". The witnesses were F. Armitage and Sarah Ann Bannister. The couple would have four children between 1890 and 1903. The family appeared in the 1891, 1901, and 1911 census residing in Bradford.

Nancy passed away on September 8, 1932 in Bradford. Her address at time of death was 118 Bingley Street, Bradford. Her Probate was administered on October 5, 1932, in Wakefield naming son Christopher. She was sixty three.
