John was born in 1728.
In 1748 he married Mary Pople in nearby Buckland Newton, where they appear to have had three children.
He most probably passed away in 1770 in Upcerne (which is about 3 miles from Buckland Newton).
It is just possible that this marriage is for a different John Spicer, but the date fits well, and the other known John Spicer's in the area are born too late for a 1748 marriage.
John Spicer born in nearby Fifehead Neville in 1736 to Robert and Bethia.
John Spicer, born in nearby Hazelbury Bryan in 1733 to George and Elizabeth.
But with two of the marriages to a Mary it's hard to be sure who had which of the later children, or if there is another John and Mary out there somewhere!
