Descendant of John Ganzer Spires.

Cleveland was born in 1921, the oldest of seven children to Cleveland Washington Spires Sr and Lola Belle Wofford.^[1] His siblings were: James Jackson, Georgia Estelle, Jesse Leland, Rachel Christine, Jacqueline, and Living.
