Biography

According to Thomas Spooner, Eleazer was born on 15 Nov 1734 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.[1] He was baptized, son of Benjamin Spooner, on 11 Jul 1742.[2] [3]

He and Mehitable Allen married in Dartmouth. They announced their intention to marry 21 Nov 1764 and married on 30 Dec 1764. [4]

He removed to Oakham, MA in about 1776 or early 1777. On 14 Apr 1777, he purchased of Jesse Allan, for the sum of 383:06:08 pounds "a certain tract of land, with the buildings thereon, lying and being in Oakham, aforesaid, containing 155 acres, be the same more or less." On this land he afterwards lived. [1]

He served as a private in the Revolutionary War. [5] He was an industrious and thrifty man; mixed but little in public affairs; quiet and unobtrusive in habits; more disposed to suffer a wrong or injury than to coerce reparation. [1]

Eleazer died in Oakham in Mar 1813.[5] He is buried in Oakham Center Cemetery[6]
