Asa was born to Knight Sprague Sr. and Mary Beal Sprague on July 24, 1748. He was the eldest of 6 from this marriage, which was the second for Knight Sprague Sr.
He married Martha Wilson on March 11, 1773 and they had eleven children:
He served as corporal at the Lexington Alarm and was sergeant in the Worcester County, Massachusetts Militia, 1777. He has a DAR designation - DAR# A107523.
He is listed as a farmer in the US census of 1860.
He died in De Kalb, NY on February 2, 1830. His tombstone was found in 2008 and reads: To the memory of Capt Asa Sprague departed this life, Feb 2 1830, Aged 82 years - "in peace he left this world". He is buried at Old Pioneer Cemetery De Kalb, St. Lawrence County, New York, USA.
