Biography

John Sprague II is the son of Dea John Sprague & Judith Green. He was born in Malden Massachusetts. He removed to Killingly, Connecticut in 1752 with his family where he met his wife, Mary Hutchins. They married sometime between 1759 - 1761 and had at least six children Jonathan, Wyman, Isaac, Mary Polly, Chloe and John. They removed with their children to Winhall, Bennington, Vermont in 1791. Mary died in 1798 leaving him with his daughter Chloe who must have been a dependant adult since she never married or had any children and died at 39 years old in in 1812. John then died in 1814, he was 79. They are all buried in Middletown Cemetery in Winhall, Vermont.

CAUTION:

Note: Although it is well documented that his spouse was Dorothy Brown, my research has proved this was based on an error made by the author of The Ralph Sprague Genealogy, EG Sprague. He confused the dates of the marriage and marriage intention of John's father, John and Dorothy Browns mother, Dorothy (Green) Brown as being a marriage date between the couples two children.

John Sprague had actually only married Mary Hutchins daughter of Wyman Hutchins and Abigail Cutler.
