Biography

Henry Spriggs and his wife Anne recorded the baptisms of their children in Nottingham, Mass (now New Hampshire), and then Boston, including:

  1. Joshua, a shipwright, baptized in March 1729 in Nottingham Massachusetts (now New Hampshire)[1], who married Eleanor Paine March 24, 1751[2] [3]
  2. Elizabeth, baptized April 9, 1732[4], who married William Graham at King's Chapel in Boston June 21, 1750[5]
  3. Ann, daughter of Henry and Anne, who was baptized December 22, 1734 in Boston[6] [7], who married John Frett in Boston May 21, 1750[5]
  4. George, a gardener, who married Hannah (who died Jan 30, 1768, at age 43[8]. When George died in 1787 his son Thomas, was administrator of his estate until Thomas died in 1794, and William Hill was administrator[9]. Their children included
    1. Elizabeth, baptized 1760[10]
    2. Hannah, baptized June 3, 1757[11] who married William Hill October 21, 1787[12]
    3. Sally, who married Moses Madray on July 23, 1788[13]
    4. Thomas, baptized July 16, 1752[14] a gardener, who deeded land to John Winthrop, March 31, 1789[5]. He married Susannah Wales Oct 30, 1787[15]. His widow Susannah was administrator of his estate in 1794 in Boston (inventory may show some of the same items noted in George's Case #18937 above0[16], and then she married Titus Thayer[17]
    5. George, born about 1753, who married Ann Saunders August 17, 1769[18] who died in Boston 1800 at age 47[19]
    6. Lydia, baptized Feb 20, 1765[20], who died in 1766[21]
  5. Unnamed daughter, buried in 5 Jan 1748/9[22]
