John was born on 28 July 1706 in Newton, Massachusetts, to John Spring and Joanna Spring.[1]
He married Sarah Reed on 2 October 1735 in Newton.[2] They had the following children:[citation needed]
"We have the following sorrowful accident from Uxbridge in the country of Worcester, viz., that on Friday night last the house of Mr. John Spring of that town was burnt down to the ground, and four persons consumed therein, viz., a child of Mr. Spring's, another child of his brother's, a servant maid, and a negro boy. Mr. Spring himself was sent for out to watch with a sick neighbor; Mrs. Spring was wak'd out of her sleep by the falling of that part of the house where the persons consumed lay, who wak'd up a laboring man that lodged in the house; which two were the only persons that remained in the house, and had but just time to save their lives."[3]
John died on 13 March 1794, aged 88 years.[4]
