Frederick Arthur Spring was born in 1885 in Fulham, London, England, the son of Harriet and Arthur William Spring.[1][2][3][4]
At the time of the 1901 England Census, he was living in Bristol with his parents and siblings and was employed as an assistant licensed victualler.[3]
By 1911, he was employed as a commercial traveller and was boarding in Bristol in the household of John and Annie Jones.[4]
He married Annie May Holloway on 22 June 1914 at Barrow upon Humber, Lincolnshire, England.[5]
