Biography

Benjamin Spring was born around 1818 in Pinner, Middlesex, England, the son of Martha Spring and John Spring.^{[1][2][3][4][5]}

He was christened on 26 July 1818 in Pinner.^[1]

He was a railway platelayer,^[4] and later a railway conductor.^[5]

He married Sophia Surman in 1837 in Aldbury, Hertford, England.^[6] Their children were:

• Emma Spring (1838–?)^[7]
• Henry Spring (1844–?)^[8]

Sophia died in 1845.^[9]

Benjamin remarried in 1846, to Emma Hakesley.^[10]
