Rachel Mayne Spring (married name Ecker) was born on 16 November 1888 in Long Clawson, Leicestershire, England, the daughter of Fanny Spring and James Spring.^{[1][2][3][4][5][6]}

She was baptised on 13 December 1888 in Long Clawson.^[1]

She married Joseph Ecker on 27 July 1908 in Charlevoix, Michigan, United States.^[7] Their children were:
