Biography

Black River Falls, Wis. - LaVon Schoolcraft, age 58, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, in her home.

LaVon Judith Mae Springer was born on Dec. 18, 1949, in Black River Falls to Edmand and Berniece (Soper) Springer. She was raised in the Black River Falls, Millston and Hatfield areas. She was a graduate of Black River Falls High School.

LaVon married Harry Schoolcraft on June 26, 1971, in Black River Falls. The couple has lived in the Shamrock area of Jackson County since 1982.

She had been employed in the insurance industry for 25 years and had been employed by Westland Insurance, Rural Insurance, and Greater Insurance Service Corporation. She was a customer service representative.

LaVon was a member of the Thompson-RedCloud VFW Post 1959 Auxiliary.

She loved her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, bird feeding and bird watching and traveling on family trips.

Survivors include her husband, Harry; two daughters, Amy Schoolcraft of Black River Falls and Ann Schoolcraft of Eau Claire; a son, Jon (Michelle) Schoolcraft of Black River Falls; two sisters, Carol (Keith) Fitzpatrick of Black River Falls and Emilie (Kim Kersting) Springer of Whitehall; four brothers, Calvin (Alice) Springer of Klamath Falls, Ore., Daniel (Sandra) Springer and Richard (Leona) Springer both of Seaton, Ill. and Lowell " Ole" Springer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

LaVon was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lloyd and Larry Springer.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at 11 a.m. from the Black River Falls United Methodist Church. Pastor Kathleen Jury will officiate. Burial will be in the Shamrock Union Cemetery, rural Black River Falls.

Family and friends are invited for visitation on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Buswell Funeral Home (www.buswellfuneralhome.com), Black River Falls, and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until services.
