Robert, second of the name and son of James and Elizabeth (Southworth) Sprout, was born at Scituate, MA on January 1, 1715 and died at Middleborough, MA on June 11, 1797.
He married his first wife, Hannah, daughter of Isaac and Sarah (Barlow) Samson, at Middleborough on February 2, 1737/38. They had no children.
He married his second wife, Hannah, daughter of Nathaniel and Jael (Howland) Southworth, at Middleborough on December 10, 1741. All children born to Robert were with this wife: Zebedee, Samuel, and Robert.
He married his third wife, Mercy (King) Smith, daughter of Daniel and Mercy (Hathaway) King, and widow of Nathaniel Smith, at Taunton, MA on October 27, 1785.
Probate
Robert's will, dated May 20, 1797, names wife Mercy and son Zebedee. He died at Middleborough on June 11, 1797 and the will proved on February 5, 1798.[1]
His inventory was taken on 9 February 1798 in Middleborough.[2]
In 1799, his estate was represented as insolvent, and a list of claims and creditors was recorded.[3]
In 1800, an account of his estate by his widow Mercy was recorded which included debts paid, appraisers, and administration fees with the balance to the widow.[4]
