Spurgeon-396 and Spurgeon-214 appear to represent the same person because: I see that these were marked as rejected matches, but it does appear that they're the same person. Birth/death dates and locations are nearly identical. The bio in Spurgeon-214 has spouse and children information that matches the linked profiles in Spurgeon-396. Both link to same FindAGrave memorial.

The 1850 Gilmer County Census has Robert Lowther, wife Mary--WVVS marriage record m May 1 1844 in Ritchie County, (W)V--with child William 9 y/o which would have birth year about 1841 followed with 3 children with birth years greater than 1844 and a 72 y/o female named Catherine which could have been his mother or his wife;s. The data on this profile leads me to remove her as a wife of Robert who probably died before 1844. Don Norman's files names a first wife for him as Nancy Smith with a child, William Thomas.
