It is said that Mary Jane Spurlock Minor was being carried to Campbellite cemetery after she died but her body burst open on the way, so they had to bury right there, which was on a hill behind "Van McLain's place" (on Nebo Road in Amite county). Her grave was supposedly only marked with a pine knot.
