Hi, Carmel, I'm introducing myself to say that I'm looking forward to working with you on some dit names and a couple of WikiTree suggestions.

Basically, a dit name belongs to an individual to help distinguish them from people with similar names or to mark something special about them. Children don't get their parents dit names, those are only added to their last name if they actually used them. We have a policy to never use them in LNAB. I can work with you on how to correct these.

Would you review this project page about dit names and let me know what you think?

Also I'm happy to help with any WikiTree questions you might have, please don't hesitate to ask!

Hi Carmel,

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

To fully access the DNA resources you will need to adjust your privacy level.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.

Take care

Hi Carmel,

You have added a pre-1700 profile today for Mary Gulliver, but have not added any sources as yet. Please see Help: Pre-1700 profiles for a reminder about the requirements for creating sourced pre-1700 profiles on WikiTree.

Thanks for understanding and taking the time to add proper sources to this profile as soon as possible.

Regards, Gillian, Ranger on Duty.

N.B. The same advice applies to Joseph Atherton

I noticed you changed the birth date of to 'about 1740' this morning just a few hours after I had changed it from '1755-12-15' to 'before 22 Dec 1753' .

I showed 2 sources for his baptism date 22 Dec 1753. Baptism then and there were generally performed on date of birth or 1 or 2 days later.

I'll change it once more and hopefully you accept it this time.

Hello, I noticed you changed a number of things on a profile I manage ( including a significant change to the date of birth from the source I had.

However, you did not provide ANY sources to support this change. Please advise the sources used to support this so that the profile is complete.

Hi Carmel,

I noticed that you merged away Thomas Cartile (Cartile-65). Did he really not exist or was he just not part of your family? At WikiTree, if the person really existed, please disconnect them rather than trying to make them non-existent. You can also remove yourself from all responsibility for the profile by orphaning it. To do that, click the Privacy tab and select the Remove Yourself link.

Having one profile for everyone is part of our mission. Doing the disconnect and orphan leaves the profile so that someone else doesn't have to create it later.

Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As we always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.

Carrie, I hope your family tree connections are working out! I wanted to point out that we try not to abbreviate locations like Ontario, and we include the country name as well. See Location Fields for a full explanation and best of luck with your research!

Oh, cool! We are ninth cousins once removed through Antoine Bordeleau! That's the family that helped me discover that I am 1/16 French. Who knew that all my Burdalow / Birdlow cousins from Indiana were really Bordeleau? I am going to join the Daughters of the American Revolution because of Antoine Bordeleau (1730-1793).
