Biography

Not to be confused with his cousin Lt Gen Richard St George of Kilrush, 1670-1755, married Elizabeth Coote.

Sir[1] Richard St George was born Dunmore 1657[1] to Sir George St George[1][2] & Elizabeth Hanney[2].

He married Anne Eyre, daughter of Colonel John Eyre of Eyre Court, in 1686. [1]

He inherited Headford Castle[3] in 1711[1].

He had no legitimate children with his wives. [1]

He had an illegitimate ("natural") daughter, Mary (St George) Mansergh. [3]

He also had an illegitimate ("natural") son, Richard St George, who received the estate of Carrick on Shannon, county Leitrim. Richard died in 1757 and he and his children are mentioned in the 1770 will of James Mansergh, the husband of Mary (St George) Mansergh.

Richard's niece Elizabeth married Sir Ralph Gore. [1]

He was Member of Parliament for Clougher from 1703 until 1726. [1]

He was appointed to the Privy Council of Ireland in 1715. [1]

Richard died 28 September 1726. [1][4]

Daughter Mary inherited Headford Castle upon Richard's death, though this was challenged in a court case by cousins. [4]
