Biography

Jasper was born in 1885. He passed away in 1923. Jasper added the “e” to the Stacy names. The story my grandmother told was: back in their days it cost a penny a letter to have your name in the newspaper. So if you added the “e” in Stacy/Stacey you were considered rich. Jasper told Granny to always be sure to add the “e”. When I go down into Martin County, KY now, and I tell them I am their cousin Stacey with an e. Their reply today is always “Oh you are one of those rich Stacy’s”.

Isaac Stacy (head of household, 47 years of age, married, born Feb 1853 in Kentucky, his father born in Virginia, his mother born in Kentucky), Sarah wife 44 KY, Simon son 19 KY, Jasper son 15 KY, Elvin son 12 KY, Columbus son 7 KY, James H son 4 KY, Elizabeth daughter 1 KY, and Olive Stacy daughter in law (21 born in KY Dec 1879). ^[1]
