[Son of George James and Ellen] Mr. Gordon James Ninness. A respected resident of Failford, and late of Mount George, passed away in Royal Newcastle Hospital on 12th March, 1952, in the person of Mr. Gordon James Ninness. The deceased had not enjoyed good health for the last five years, but it was not until seven weeks before his death that his illness assumed a serious aspect. He was kindly nursed at home for four weeks by his wife, daughters and sons-in-law, until it was found necessary to send him to Newcastle for treatment. Every thing possible was done for him there, and it was arranged for his transfer to St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney, but he passed away rather suddenly before this could be done. Deceased was only 53 years of age, and was a hard worker right up to recent weeks. He was a good husband, and loved his children. The late Mr. Ninness was born in the Singleton district and was one of a family of 12. Two brothers predeceased him. His mother and father are still living, and both are nearly 90 years of age. Mr. Ninness in his earlier days drove a bullock team, drawing sleepers, girders, poles and logs out of some rough parts of Pokolbin mountains, and later at Mount George. He also was a sleeper cutter, and in after years followed the dairying industry. In addition to his widow, the following members of the family survive: Kath (Mrs. F. Moore, Mount George) ; Neville (Hamilton); Neta (Mrs. J. Margery, Nowendoc) ; Thelma, Kevin, Noelene, Colin, Janette, Rosemary and Beryl, at home. The funeral took place on Friday last leaving the home of deceased's sister, Mrs. K. Mitchell, Bennett Street, Hamilton, for the Church of England section of the Whittingham Cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest near those of his two brothers. The pall-bearers were Messrs. Ern., Ted, Bill and Clive Ninness, brothers), Neville Ninness (son), and John Margery son-in-law). The numerous floral tributes showed the respect in which deceased was held.
