Biography

Nancy Staley was the daughter of John Staley and Jane A Brooks Staley, born in Virginia in 1827. She married James William Ward in 1848 with whom she had as many as four children. When James died, she married the widower of her husband's sister, Hugh Spence, with whom she had around four children. She seems to have lived her whole life in Wytheville, Wythe, Virginia. She died in 1900 and was buried in the Ward family cemetery at Black Lick, Wythe, Virginia.
