Biography

Eli STALEY is the son of Johan (John) Peter Christian STALEY and his wife Mary Margaret Magdalene "Mollie" SMITH.

Eli STALEY, age 29, first married Susannah "Fanny" EVINS, age 23, on 15 Nov 1833 in Randolph County, North Carolina. North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1741-1868,Bond #:000100987; Bondsman: Christian STALEY and Michael HOLT.

Based on the 1840 and 1850 Census, Eli and Susannah had seven children:

1. Delilah STALEY, 2. Oliver STALEY, b. 1834 NC; d. 1907 NC 3. Elizabeth STALEY, b. 1836 NC; d. 4. William STALEY, b. 1838 NC; d. 1885 5. Washington Riley STALEY, b. 1840 NC; d. 6. Lucinda "Linda" STALEY, b. 1842 NC; d. 7. Madison STALEY, b. 1844 NC; d.

According to the Randolph County, North Carolina 1850 Mortality Schedule ID#:51_4893 Susanna "Fanny" EVINS, age 40, died in July 1850 from some unknown accident.

Eli needed a mother for his seven young children. Eli married a second time on 15 Nov 1853 in Randolph County, North Carolina to Malinda Jane FORBISH. They had five children before Eli, age 61, apparently died in about 1865:
