I believe that my mother Mary Evelyn (Standley) Nye (1925-1984) said her father Charles Thomas Standley (1881-1942) died from tuberculosis.

After serving in the Royal Veterinary Corps during WW1, William worked as a clerk for London Transport.
Although he died long before I was born, I remember my late mother (his daughter Joyce) telling me that he had poorly lungs. Bronchitis, or perhaps asthma. "Poor Dad", she'd always say.
