William was born about 1779 in Bradfield, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom. This estimate is based on his stated age of 50 in the 1841 census where he is working as a farmer and living with his wife, Hannah and 7 children at Hunter House Farm, Ecclesfield, Yorkshire.[1]
William married Hannah Crookes in about 1821, based on the ages of their first-born children.
William died on 20 February 1845 at Hunter House Farm[2] and was buried on 24 February 1845 at St Nicholas church, Bradfield.[3]
