William Stanley was born in Yorkshire, England.

William was born about 1835 in Bradfield, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom. His parents were William Stanley and Hannah Crookes. William was baptised on 20 September 1835 at St. Nicholas church, Bradfield.[1]

William married Helen (Ellen) Wood in the December quarter of 1870 in the Wortley registration district.[2]

William and Helen had 1 child, Fanny Elizabeth Stanley (1873-1923).

William died on 21 June 1890 in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire at the age of 54. Probate was granted to his sister Frances (Stanley) Barber.[3] William was interred at Ecclesfield Cemetery, Yorkshire on 24 Jun 1890.[4]
