Biography

Edward Stanley, Esq. of Ponsonby Hall in Cumberland (b. c. 1690), was the son of John Stanley, Esq. and Dorothy, coh. of Edward Holt, Esq. of Wigan, Lancashire. In 1737 he was married to Mildred Stanley (b. c. 1718 - d. 27 Jun 1789, age 71), youngest dau. of Rt. Rev. Sir George Fleming, Bart. Lord Bishop of Carlisle.[1][2]
