Biography

Henry was born about 1515, Cross Hall, Aughton, Lancashire, England, son of James Stanley and Anne Hart.[3][4]

Henry inherited the large estates of his father.[1]

He married MaryStanley[4] (Margaret Stanley[1][3]), Sep 26 1563, Ormskirk, Lancashire, England[4].[1]

Mary, daughter of Peter Stanley & Elizabeth Scarisbrick, was born 1536, Bickerstaffe, Lancashire, England.[3] Mary was from another branch of the Stanley family.[1]

  1. Alice Stanley, born May 18 1565, Bickerstaff.
  2. William Stanley, born May 18 1565, Bickerstaff.
  3. Margaret Stanley, born 1566, Bickerstaff; married Richard Houghton.
  4. Jane Stanley, born 1572, Bickerstaff; married Gabriel Hesketh.
  5. Edward Stanley, born Dec 14 1576; died May 2 1640; married 1) Catherine Mainwaring, 2) Isabel Warburton.
  6. James Stanley, born 1580, Bickerstaff.
  7. Anne Stanley, born Jan 19 1585, Bickerstaff.
  8. Dorothy Stanley, born Jul 21 1587, Bickerstaff; married Henry Boteler(Butler).

Henry Stanley, of Aughton died Jul 23 1598, Bickerstaffe, Lancashire, England.[3][4]

Mary died about 1613, Aughton, Lancashire, England.[3]

Research Notes

Cokayne's Complete Baronetage and some other sources give his wife's first name as Margaret rather than Mary.[2]
