Biography

William Stanley was a member of aristocracy in England.

William Stanley, Knt., of Hooton and Storeton, Cheshire (also of Stanley, Staffordshire), was born about 1474-1475 (aged 38 in 1512 and 46 in 1520).[1][2] He was the son of William Stanley, Knt., and Agnes Grosvenor, daughter and co-heiress of Robert Grosvenor, Esq.[1][2][3]

William had an older half-sister, Margery, from his father's first marriage to Margaret, daughter and co-heiress of Sir John Bromley of Badington. Margery married to Peter Gerard, Esq. of Bryn, Lancashire.[1][2]

William married first to _________ and had no issue.[1][4]

William married Anne Harington, daughter and co-heiress of Sir James Harington and Isabel Radcliffe,[5] before 18 August 1505 (date of fine for marrying without a license), as his second wife.[1][2] William and Anne had three sons and two daughters:

William was knighted in 1513 and was Sheriff of Cheshire in 1526.[1]

William was alive in 1528/9 and his wife, Anne, was living on 16 August 1528.[1][2]
