James Henry Stanley was born on February 24, 1869 in Lowndes, Mississippi, United States, son of James Lafayette Stanley (~1845–1871) and Nancy Caroline Hilburn (1836–1885).
James married Mattie A Gardner (born on February 24, 1879 in near Saltillo, Ms). Their son was Charles Dewitt Stanley (1900–1928).
James died on June 8, 1954, aged 85.
