DNA
I have taken an autosomal test at Ancestry.com, an MTDNA test at FTDNA, and a Y-111 DNA test at FTDNA. My maternal haplogroup is H and my Y haplogroup is I-L573. I have now taken the Big Y test at FTDNA. My haplogroup changed to I-L573. My closest match was a Mr. Ramsay. His ancestor was born in Scotland in 1814. Big Y is a test for SNP's, so the match may be 1000 years ago.

STANLEY
My surname is Stanley, but my paternal line goes: Stanley -Staton - Williams (per Y-DNA)
STATON
My great grandfather was born a STATON.
WILLIAMS
Looking for my connection to my paternal line of Williams. My Y-DNA haplogroup is I-M253 > I-L573 > I-S18629. My probable connection will be Charles N. Staton born 1786 in South Carolina per the 1850 Pike County, Ky. census.

When did you graduate from BHS

Also, have you done anymore research on the STAYTON - WILLIAMS connection?

Hi Darrell,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Darrell, Welcome to WikiTree!. I see that you’ve entered ‘confirmed with DNA’ for the relationship between Richard Staton-119 and his father. But his profile only displays one person on WikiTree who has taken a DNA test. Would you please explain on his profile how you used DNA to confirm that relationship. Here is an explanation of how to do that: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/DNA_Confirmation

Let me know if I can help. Thanks! Kay Wilson

Hi Darrell,

A warm welcome to WikiTree, a genealogy site different than any other! You should have received an email from us with helpful links to get started.

Our goal is to have one single profile per person so that we have ONE big family tree and we collaborate together to make that happen.

Each volunteer at WikiTree adds to the collaborative tree at their own pace, there are no minimum requirements for time or entry.

When you volunteer, you indicate your interests by adding tags and comments and then one of our Greeters will confirm your membership.

Please check out our question of the week: Do you know how, why, or after whom; your birth name was chosen?

Welcome to the family!
