On July 21, 1870, William G. Stanley (age 22), married Nancy B. Philpott (age 20), in Henry County, Virginia^[3][4][5]

On January 7, 1872, William and Nancy gave birth to their daughter Roxie Jane Stanley, in Philpott, Franklin County, Virginia^[6].

In 1880, William G. (age 31 - worked as a farmer), lived in Brown Hill, Franklin County, Virginia, with his wife Nancy B. (age 29 - worked at keeping house), their son James E. (age 9 - born in Virginia), their daughter Roxanne (age 8 - born in Virginia), their daughter Almer H. (age 4 - born in Virginia), their daughter Nannie M.
