John Stanley IV was the son of John III & Esther (Newell) Stanley Born in Farmington, CT (source: Stanley families of America-see below) 17 February 1682.

In August of 1710, John married Hannah Portter, in Farmington, Hartford, Connecticut[1].

On December 9, 1714, John (after the death of Hannah) married his second wife, Mary Wright (spelled Right in Connecticut, U.S., Town Marriage Records), in Farmington, Connecticut[2], daughter of Samuel & Rebecca (Craft) Wright and parents of John V, Thomas & Mary.
