Benjamin Franklin Stanley was born on February 7, 1791, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the son of Adah and Lucas. He married Nancy Thomas on October 25, 1814. They had seven children in 32 years. He died on April 23, 1867, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, having lived a long life of 76 years, and was buried there.
