William was most probably born in Rous Lench about 1771 based on the later census returns and the burial record (baptism not found), and is most probably the son of William Leighton and Mary Richardson, who married in the village in 1765.

He married Sarah Harris is 1799.

In the 1851 census return he is a former labourer and now a pauper.

He died in 1860 in the village.

Research Notes

No baptisms found for any children in Rous Lench. But the 1851 census says that he had a granddaughter, so more investigation needed into her.
