Mary Stanley was born on September 20, 1864 in Hant's Harbour, Newfoundland.^[1] Her parents were Richard Stanley and Elizabeth Soper.

She married Moses Spurrell on December 28, 1889.
Together they had 6 children:

3. Edgar Spurrell
4. Richard Spurrell
5. Alexander Spurrell
6. Isabella Spurrell

Mary Ann and Moses were living at Butter Cove in 1921. She was 57 years old.^[2]
