Biography

Linius Elbert Stanley was born February 1865 in Iowa, the son of E. N. and Mariana? or Miriam? Stanley, both born in Indiana.

27 June 1870--indexed as "Minsous" in the household of E. N. Stanley, a 33 year-old car repariman. Also in the home: his mother, Marian--29, Ladora--15, Loring--10 and Lousisa--8. They lived in East Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa.

18 June 1880, Linius was 15 years old and lived with his parents and two siblings in Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa. His father was a carpenter. His brother Loring--20 was a laborer. His older sister, Louisa, was 19.

Est. 1889, he married Sadie Strickler, who was born in Indiana c. APR 1869.

1895 Kansas State Census, mistakenly indexed as "Sineus" he lived with his wife, Sadie and children, "Rubie" and son, Russell in Wyandotte, Kansas

15 June 1900 Census, at the age of age 35, Linius, his wife Sadie--31 and their four children lived at 417 Stein Ave.--Santa Fe Addition in La Junta town, Otero Co., Colorado. They had moved there from Kansas in the past 2 years. Linius worked as a switchman in the railroad yards. Lineus and Sadie had been married 10 years. Sadie had given birth to 4 children/4 still living.

1905 Kansas State Census--L. A. Stanley resided in a rented house in Kansas. He was 40 years old, born in Iowa, worked as a switchman and lived with : Sadie Stanley-36; Ruby-14 ; Russell-11; Lyle-9 and Lester, aged 7. [1]

He passed away in 1907 in Missouri.

Thank you, Phillip. I added Temple and Elwood and their wives/bios, etc. to bridge the two generation gap between Linius and the existing profile for Richard. Richard's wife, Abigail is an orphaned profile and sources need some work on both of them. The only source citation for making the connection between Temple and his parents was the 1950 Census with Abigail living with Temple and his family. If you (or any of the family) know of any other documentation for this, please add to justify that we can prove these really are the right people. Really appreciate your input!
