Edmund Phipps Stanley was born on the13th October 1855, at Buckingham Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire, England, the son of Col the Hon. Charles James Fox Smith Stanley (who was himself the son of Edward Smith Stanley, Right Hon Earl Of Derby Baron Stanley Lord Lieutenant) and Frances Augusta Campbell.
On the 7th April 1861 the now 6-year-old Edmund is living with his family at Thrybergh, Rotherham, in the West Riding of Yorkshire.
Edmund was a Minister of the Word, and Rector of All Saints, Wootton Courtenay, Somerset.
Edmund married South Australian-born Catherine Stewart Browne on the 9th September 1885, in Cockermouth, Cumberland.
Over the next six years Edmund and Catherine had two children, daughter Constance Maud, in 1888 (sadly, Constance died soon afterwards), and son Edmund Stewart, in 1891.
On the 5th April 1891 Edmund was living with his wife, Catherine, his sister Constance, brother Albert, and three servants: Mary A Quick, Sarah Quick, and Frances E Roberts, in the Rectory at Wootton Courtenay, Williton, Somerset. Edmund's occupation is listed as a Clerk In Holy Orders, and Rector of Wootton Courtenay.
Edmund Phipps Stanley passed away on the 6th September 1929, at Basingstoke, Hampshire, England, just one month seven days before his 74th birthday.
Edmund was buried at the All Saints Churchyard Cemetery Wootton Courtenay, West Somerset, England, where he had been the Rector of the Parish from 1884.
