John was born about 1818.He was married to Harriett.  He was associated with Stockport, Cheshire., and lived in Burton, Rossett. On 17 September 1863, he left his home in a pony phaeton accompanied by his coachman and Mr and Mrs Nevin. When they were near to Croehowell Hill, Burton, some barking dogs came alongside and a whip was snapped at them. The pony jolted forward and John hit a brick wall. He suffered a fractured skull and dislocated neck. An Inquest into the incident returned the verdict of accidental death. He was buried at All Saints, Gresford on 22 September 1863
